Mind your brakes! December promotion: HYUNDAI!
Hyundai Motor Company's Foundation: 29.12.1967
Although a relatively young brand, Hyundai has undergone rapid development, often catching up with or even surpassing companies half a century older. Today, together with the acquired Kia, it forms the world's third-largest car manufacturer, competing head-to-head with General Motors.
Hyundai Motor Company was founded on December 29, 1967. It was established as a spin-off from Korea's largest development company. Money earned from numerous construction investments in rapidly developing South Korea allowed the company to invest in a factory. Initially, they produced licensed Ford models there, such as the Cortina and Taunus.
The true breakthrough came in the 1970s when the key decision was made to create their own, proprietary design. The Pony model debuted in 1975. It was the first mass-produced car in Korea and an immediate success.
The success of the Pony model allowed Hyundai to strengthen its position not only in Korea but also in Europe and Canada. Although the Pony did not meet stringent American standards, the brand successfully debuted in the USA in 1986 with the Excel model.
Today, Hyundai is a global player, present in every major automotive market, and has built a very strong and established position in the United States.
